Weddings are such a special occassion aren’t they? Even more special at the moment with all that has been going on around the world over the last 18 months. Weddings have been postponed, cancelled and covered in a cloud of uncertainty for far too long.

But what a pleasure it has been to finally get back to shooting weddings. As most of you know, I don’t usually put myself out there as a wedding photographer but saying that, it is something I love to do for many reasons.

I have also recently been asked to become the preferred photographer for a fantastic venue Michelangelos in Ryton, so I must be doing something right!

I love working with my Elinchrom lighting and there is no greater challenge during a Wedding Day as there are hundreds of different situations regarding how the ambient light changes.

Ray and Harriet recently got married at Horton Grange and they have certainly gone through a lot since they first decided to get married.

That invitation for me to capture their wedding now seems so long ago, it was way before COVID and since then they have endeared having to cancel and postpone  their wedding on more than one occasion.

They have lost loved ones along the way and even more worrying, Ray was also seriously ill in hospital right up to a couple of days before the wedding with COVID related issues which caused a blood clot in his lungs.

There was a point where we didn’t even know if he would be released from hospital in time to marry Harriet,  so once again you can imagine the everyones thoughts and it is my role to capture all of these emotions and showcase their special day in a documentary styled theme from start to finish.

It is so nice to get to know people and feel really part of their special family as its a privilege above all other things as you get feel and fully understand their emotions.

So here is a flavour of a selection of images from their day captured through my fabulous Canon R5 – WOW What a camera this has turned out to be as it is every bit as good as all the write ups and accolades it has received since its launch and this backed up lighting from my Elinchrom ELB 1200 was a pure dream team combination.

Hope you love the images !
